I was just going threw the new Charlton 24th catalogue and thought I would share this with the replacement note enthusiasts.

As a whole the average price of a Journey Replacement Note increased this year 3%.

The Best 2 Replacement categories are
1-   5$   Pre-Security Sheet Replacement Notes up    +9% YoY
2-   10$ Pre-Security Sheet Replacement Notes up    +6% YoY

The Worst 2 Replacement categories are
1-   $100 Sheet Replacement Notes Down   -9% YoY
2-   $20   Single Note Replacement  Down   -5% YoY

And to buy an entire Collection of all Sheet and SNR Replacements in Unc Pricing would be 48K

Back to the book I go, can’t wait to see what the rest of it looks like  :)

I agree the journey replacements held up well but for the rest of the replacements is was not quite as nice.  From the 54 modified's right up to the pre-journeys most notes went down and some quite significantly.  For example almost all of the 1973's decreased from anywhere from 10-20% :(
Good thing I am not selling.

I thought this might be of interest to Journey Replacement Note collectors.

In my model I have uses all past book values and have adjusted them to account for inflation. For the Journey series this starts from the 15th Charlton catalogue. When you have all past values it can help assess values and trends. Here are a few variations.

1-   What I did was sort the top 25 Ranges based on how much over their historical lows ranges are currently trading at.
2-   I have also done the same thing to see the biggest losers based on how low the ranges have fallen from their all time historical highs.
***The 2 categories are for the all time gainers and losers from all Journey Replacement note values.

3-   The last one is the top 25 most expensive Journey Replacement Notes and all my prices are taken from the 24th Charlton catalogue Unc grade.

Thanks for the great stats MG. Very interesting lists indeed. Thought I saw Gem Unc Je-Do; BEU (0.023M - 0.025M) is in the book as $1000, not $800!!

Now, what about the non replacements, like regular notes....... 2003 BEL, BEK, BER etc...

Hi Kobecurrency

Thank you and you're welcome.

All these numbers are based off the Unc pricing. A BEU G.Unc doesn't exist... as far as I know.

As for the regular Journey Notes? I don't have them in my pricing model. The truth is that it's just too much data. It took me over 1 year to get what i currently have together. So far I only have all Replacements from all BOC Series, The Regular Devil's face, 1937, 1935 issues as well as all Special Serial Numbers. The amount of data for those alone is just massive. Perhaps in the future I might add other regular notes but with 30 Years worth of Charlton Books there is a ton of data.

Regards,
MG
