I'm hoping someone can help me as I've scoured the Internet and not found an answer to my question. I have a June 23, 1923 Dominion of Canada $2 note and am wondering if any in this series were replacement notes or if that all started later by the Bank of Canada. I ask because the serial number is an "X" series note. Thanks for your help :)

I believe that the Group 4 notes were X series (Campbell Clark) Black Seal serial numbers ranging from 000001-850000
To the best of my knowledge they were not replacement notes.

Thanks very much. Right signatures and seal and serial number in the 170,000's so they all seem to fit.

There were no replacement notes prior to 1954. The printer did it right or did it over.
The only other issues to get that far in the alphabet were 1911, 1917 and 1923 $1s, and X was just another prefix letter in every case.
