Anyone have some new years resolutions (collecting goals for 2020?)
-
Everything is up to fate, but it would be nice to find a million or ladder. 0999999, 0123465, and 3456780 are neat but they don't quite cut it.
I'll also accept more solids

To spend a bit less $$!

To spend a bit less $$!
- I hear you (must sell more & buy much less!)

Not really a New Years resolution but
Downsizing collection and focus on quality not quantity

"quality vs quantity" , perfectly said and saves a few bank boxes.
I am not looking for much so my list is small

Downsizing collection and focus on quality not quantity
Avoiding most if not all of the 'gift ware' from the RCM and slowly evaluating what I have to determine whether it still fits or is just excess 'eye candy' that in a few years no one will really want or care about unless they can get it for melt or less than 50% issue price.
It's not all that easy to sell something that has brought you joy and has an emotional connection but at the end of the day it's either that and knowing it's gone to a good home or picked apart by vultures.
While my collecting interests haven't changed and I enjoy the hunt or a good bargain, I'm being more selective and still trying to compensate from getting caught up in the buying frenzy from 2014-2017.

Definitely going to be working on the quality over quantity from this point forward. The last few years have filled out the quantity of my collection quite nicely. Now I am focusing on specific notes to fill in the gaps.

Well one new years resolution came true and it was just one week into 2020! Found this beautiful 1954 $5 raw crisp uncirculated low serial number yesterday. See picture fresh off the scanner.

Great find

Thank you! Yes I was pretty excited. I adjusted my scanner settings to make a better image and I uploaded them

Beautiful note, wagnert89! I guess you didn't find that one searching bricks...
-
Thanks and haha...no I can not take credit for the initial note finding. That note was printed long before I was born but I still love the series' beautiful design.

Yea those are some of my favorite notes. Just simple and beautiful designs. Always loved the '54 series.
