I have suggested to Brent that we start a registry for the 2004 $10 Jenkins-Dodge, FEP (0.045M - 0.135M) insert.
This note is extremely scarce and missing from most collections. This is evident by the recent sale of an UNC note on ebay
which ended up selling for the equivalent of CDN $900. This was the first time I have seen an UNC FEP insert on eBay and it
was heavily bid on.
I think Sudzee will concur that this note is extremely difficult to find and constantly sought after. In talking with Gilles recently,
he recalls that less than 25 of these were ever reported in UNC. I have been tracking the more scarce Journey inserts on eBay
and have only seen four FEP listed (2 in VF and 2 in UNC) in the last year.
I would be interested in knowing if other members concur that this note deserves a registry.
Thanks,
...Arthur

Hi,
That's a good idea.I'm looking for this insert long time ago and the one I saw it was on e-bay unc.Around one year and a half I went to the bank every week and ask 400$ in 10$,sometimes unc and other time circulated. And last week I finally found in EF a FEP insert(0077781).It will be nice to know how much of this insert was saved?? :-/

I also think that's would be a nice idea. I found (and kept) last summer a very decent EF FEP insert (FEP0072867) in a bundle of circulated notes. I'm wondering how many FEP has been kept, and how many are VF or higher....

Claude,
Can you post an image of the two new FEP inserts (0082288,0073318) you found for the registry ?
Also, can you provide the sale price for the FEP0077781 insert in EF that you sold so that information can be added to the registry ?
Thanks,
...Arthur

Hi Claude,
If you email me the scans of the FEP insert notes I will resize them so that they are under 80 KB and can be
posted in their entirety.
My email address is canada-banknotes@rogers.com

FEP 0078272, 273 were used by a BoC rep. to showcase the modified security feature before the issue was released into circulation in May 2005. The BoC may still have those notes in the archives.
FEP 0078340, 341 were found in a mixed brick of FES about 4 months after the original release of the issue. Here are the actual brick stats:
Sept 29/2005
Unusual FEP in FES brick
FES 3570254 ( pn 11/48 ), 253, FEP 0078341, 340 ( position numbers 18/53 ), FES 3570253 -160
FES3290302 – 203
FES3578258 – 160
FES3442320 – 286
FES3362320 – 242
FES3354320 – 237
FES3282297 – 198
FES 3386263 – 164
FES3434320 – 281, 179 – 160
FES3498320 – 316, 215 – 160
FES3506320, 219 – 160
FES3426320 – 277
FES3426176 – 160
FES3514224 – 160
This brick had no white sleeves and was bound with the old style heavy bands.
The notes showcased at the Calgary show by the BoC rep were FEP 0078272, 273. The two notes found in the above brick were less than 70 away. I wonder if these notes could have been test notes as well as inserts.
An e-mail was sent to the Education dept and the reply was that these notes were part of a small group set aside to be used as replacements. FEP, is to date, the only non-identifyable replacements to be confirmed by the Education dept. I believe the above info, including the e-mail replay from the BoC, can be found in the Dec. 05 issue of the CPMS newsletter.
