Title: Question about 1967 Serial number $1s.
Post by: d_polo on August 20, 2005, 06:19:58 pm
Why is it in the Carlton catalog, they mention that the serial numbered 1967 notes, basically have disappeared? I get the impression from the book that these notes are hard to come by in good grade. Yet I see them all the time in coin shops and have a ton of these notes myself and never had any problems getting these notes?

Charlton simply states that serial numbered notes disappeared, to a greater extent, than the collector's issue.

All 1967 prefixes are fairly easy to find even in UNC except M/P, *L/O, *N/O and especially *F/P
Expect to pay a little more than the book for an UNC *L/O or *F/P

Most dealers have ample stocks of 1967 serial numbered notes. Accumulating a prefix collection in perfect UNC did not take me long, and most notes were had for at least a couple bucks below book value.
