Wow nice set, that must be worth a few HOW's eh!?
;D
I negotiated for just over 2 months until we reached a deal for these notes. They are TRUELY Beautiful to see!!! :)
(Also for sale!!!)
-
Very nice, but isn't the *FP a new low?
Yes, and I believe the information has already been directed to the Charlton guide for inclusion in the 20th edition. ;)
-
Yes it is a new low and yes the information has already been directed to the Charlton guide for inclusion in the 20th edition.
So each note is the lowest # known for each of the two scarcest 1967 replacement notes.
I hope to see other notes that collectors have put together!
-
This is my favorite set
The $ 1 is UNC, $ 2 - $ 20 are EF, $ 50 is EF and the $ 100 is VF-EF
Sorry I only have an old digital camera so the picture is crappy

Hey buxvet Jr.: keep going. Don't let what will happen over the next six or eight years get in the way of collecting. I wish I had, instead of stopping for 20 years.

AMEN!!!! ;)
Welcome to the Forum Buddy!!!! 8-)
I Must Say VERY NICE NOTES!!!!!!
I am HOPEFULLY going to make a deal tomorrow on a set of 1954 Modified $1 Single Digit notes (1111111,2222222....9999999) :D
I have been toying around with the set and I must say... It is INCREDIBLE!!!!! I can't remember if they are all the same prefix... I think they might be! :o
-
Thank you so much everyone for sharing your passion, there are some very nice sets indeed.
-
Buxvet Jr - Very impressive collection for young man like yourself, keep on collecting!
-
Both of these notes are the 42nd printed with Bonin/Thiessen signatures.
(http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/3781/bothbonin42ndnotesprintwp2.th.jpg) (http://img187.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bothbonin42ndnotesprintwp2.jpg)
One is the 42nd replacement note and the other being 42nd regular note printed.
I'm interested to know if anyone has a lower number BRX Bonin/Thiessen note?
Many thanks, Gary
-
Thank you so much everyone for sharing your passion, there are some very nice sets indeed.
This was a great idea Gary. I really like looking at these notes.
I was thinking it would be cool to have a seperate forum category where each member would have there own thread and it would be locked only for them to post in. In there they could post scans of the notes they wanted to share.
-
How is this:
Holy smokes eyevet
Dev** Very Very Nice !! :o :o :o :o :o :o :o

We've often talked about a personal gallery function, but finding a secure system, and financing the required hard drive space has prevented us. Maybe you should talk to Brent as he is taking over development.

There is a possibility that the Wiki site could provide that sort of functionality... I've got an idea, but I need two guinea pigs to play around with it. Anyone game?

Sure I'm game.
P/M what you want me to do

Sorry, I take that back. There's no way to give people rights to edit their own "user page" without giving them edit rights across the entire site. Darn. I was hoping there was a specific right to edit user pages, not just "edit".
Oh well. :-/
-
Buxvet Jr. , what a very impressive collection , fantastic !! Keep up the good work !
Eyevet, Holy replacements batman :o :o :o
Now you've had to have those awhile :-/ or I need to tell my son-inlaw who is a resident-surgeon he chose the wrong vocation ;)
-
:) I know that this set is nowhere as good as eyevets :-[, but I figured it might be of interest to some of you serial number collectors. 8-)

-
:) While I had my digital camera out......I figured I might as well add another couple of interesting "sets/pairs" ;) ....these 2 being with the same signatures and the fold being in almost the same location! 8-)

;D ;D Thought I would add another pair of 1985 5.00's with a different type error than the previous 1954's. 8-) 8-)

-
;) OK.....This is my last set of error's ;) ...I promise. These 2 1954's both having a similar error on the right side of the notes. I guess you could classify them under cut off size I would think. I hope you enjoy them :) :).

Buxvet JR... You got a great set of Devil Faces ... I recall seeing your $2.00 note at Torex... Good for you..and its nice that you got your dad to go to the shows with...
Buxvet Sr...those "Ozzy Osborne" notes are simply MARVELOUS mon...
Eyevet...those replacement DF's "take the cake" Who could ever top those? (Charlton must be going to you for image resources!)
Gary_T man you got the special numbers down pat...and you and Eyevet seem firmly entrenched in the enviable position of notifying the authorities on new highs and low discoveries..
Nice error notes too, and solids!
Here's part one of my 2 cents
I'm partial to the $20 EA notes, a low number, a cutting error, and a replacement
(http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/660/ea67bq1.th.jpg) (http://img258.imageshack.us/my.php?image=ea67bq1.jpg)
-
And now for the cutting error and replacement of the EA 1969 $20 prefix
(http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/8081/cuttingerror20jz4.th.jpg) (http://img444.imageshack.us/my.php?image=cuttingerror20jz4.jpg) (http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/2935/replacement20yr0.th.jpg) (http://img444.imageshack.us/my.php?image=replacement20yr0.jpg)

This *EA note goes well with yours.

What think ye of this error note?

-
and the replacement...
Does *EA stand for " Excellent Acquisition " ;)
-
;D
-
Wow- you guys are putting my sets to blame. I will have to dig deep to find one that will trump everyone! And that may not be possible! lol
-
Does *EA stand for " Excellent Acquisition "
That's good Andrew.. never thought of that!
Actually, I sometimes like to get the first prefix (esp of the upper denominations) or, of course, a short prefix. For the Beattie/R $20 EA happens to be the first prefix, and this gives me the option of acquiring the SPECIMEN, if down the road, I happen to see one and won't need to mortgage the house to get it! All notes came at a reasonable cost (that's big in my books where buying money just smacks of being a wee bit frivolous).
I first got the cut error because it was large enough to easily see (its wider than a regular note too) but small enough to fit in a regular holder, and in my book. I then added the others.
The replacement has Oct 16, 1974 stamped on it, which would suggest it was in circulation for 5 years (at least) before a collector noticed it and scooped it up. Its in pretty good (VF-EF) shape for a note that was circulated that long.
Gary that EA note of yours is pretty darn close. You really have a knack of finding great numbers (re: your other notes)!
I also have 2 1979 $20 with reverse OFFSET printing errors but not as dramatic as Venga's $2.00
That's a beauty!
-
sorry about the low grade of the courtney $2....

-
Alvin,
The 1897 $1 bill in the picture above is the same serial number as note attached to the Massey-Harris Turkey card discussed the other day in another thread. I assume you own that set? If so, could you tell us more about it's history? Thanks!!
-
Most of the information I would be able to provide is contained on the Downtown Coin and Stamp web site newsletter at
http://www.allnationsstampandcoin.com/newsletters/news84.html
The letter was reproduced in the Charlton catalogue, fourth edition only. One the 1897 notes was featured on the cover of that edition.
I think there was also a CPMS bulletin or journal entry but I have been unable to track it down.
Neither of these notes has been logged in the CPMS registry, so far.
Anyone who would like a larger, more high-res scan is welcome to email a request to alvin54@shaw.ca

:) Yes, indeed, happy_philosopher, I really appreciated your 2 notes....they are superb! ;) I was very fortunate on ebay to aquire my 2 notes ;D.......it was about 2 years ago that I won the 1.00 for 12.00 and last year I was able to win the 2.00 note for 10.00 8-). I thought they made a nice pair but your's are much closer and nicer ;). I only hope that more members will keep adding scans of their great notes! 8-) :)

Yes, I agree!
Some OUTSTANDING Sets to say the least! ;)

Hi Guys I've shown this before but it is my favorite purchase thus far.

I must ask... Where did you get this sheet???
-
I purchased it from my local coin store. He had purchased it from a retired HSBC employee, apparently the President of the Bank had asked for a sheet of the final Bird Fifties to be cut in two. One was presented to the employee in a frame (retirement gift?) and I was told the other half was kept by the President of the Bank.
-
Very Cool may I ask what you paid?

...More than face value, but not enough to max out the line of credit.

Hi Arthur,
All I can see is one little white box with a cute little red x inside and of coarse you'll need one more to call it a set. ;D Can anyone else see the picture or is it just me?
Some pretty amazing notes on display here. I really love seeing them.
Thank you all so much.
-
nope.... just the little white box

Sorry guys, I changed my webhosting to another ISP early yesterday evening and uploaded this image
to the new ISP's web server. I had to update my domain's name server settings to associate it with
the new ISP.
It can take between 2-12 hours for this change to propagate through the Internet before it becomes
effective. You should be able to see the image sometime today, if not already.
Scott and Gary, let me know when the image becomes available. Thanks.
...Arthur

I can see it now thanks. Nice set btw.

-
That's a nice set but not very fair, come on now do you really need 8 notes in sequence? ;)
-
Gary's right, you should sell every other one:)
-
Here is a set of six replacement notes all 1000 notes apart and some 10,000 notes apart. These notes came from six separate stacks of notes.
I have other replacement notes that are 1000 apart but this is quite scarce to have six matching notes some being 10,000 apart.

Why sell every other one. Why not just sell 4 consecutive to someone who has nothing to show on the forum. That way I could show my set of 4 uncs

Lemann,
I figured your solid 8s radar was sounding loudly and you would make a timely appearance. :)

-
hehehehe.... ;D
This note also hold a special place for me as I actually found it in a brick recently... :o
When you see a brick with 8.888, I don't need to tell you how fast your heart can go from 0 - 300Km/H ;)
-
Cam....I know the feeling, I had a brick of $50s with a solid 8s and was so excited I forgot to take out the shoulder
notes before returning the brick to the bank. :'(
-
hahahaha..... :o
WOW.....
I was racing so fast through the brick I had to keep going back to grab the 2-digit notes I was passing over. ::)
Good for you on your find!!! ;)
I used to be determined that someone else was ambushing the solids and that is why no one was getting them. I had already convinced myself that there would be a replacement right where the solid was! ;D

Is it so difficult to crop your scans? That way we don't have to look at the table and your notes!
You'd be saving a lot of people time, and I'm sure it would help increase potential sales. :)

I cropped it for Cam.....I mean for you ;D

now I can't see if the desk is oak, ash or cheap malamine ;D
Naw, it's pine. Definitely pine. It's a veneer on particle-board but it's a pine veneer, friedsquid mon. I would even go so far as to say it's yellow pine, but that could be the shellac coating that was used to varnish the desk that makes it appear yellow.
And as Punkysdad would say, galang bout yer bizniz and doan cause no tribulation bout no desk, mon. Focus on de wunnerful noats bein' shown, mon.
-
Luckily the cutting cup is reduced to nil by the time it gets to to numbers ending in 888 and 889. Congratulations!
-
but that could be the shellac coating that was used to varnish the desk that makes it appear yellow.
speaking of varnish, maybe thats where the notes with varnish came from ;D
-
HAHAHA!!!! ;D :)
You guys crack me up!
Gary, yes... I was VERY lucky and all the notes look pristine.
The teller thought I was going to pass-out when I looked at the bricks... They were all laughing!!! ;D
I Got in a Sealed Block 8.891, 8.890, 8.889 and 8.888 (I almost missed the last 8 initially because of the straps). I told my self...
"Yes, there you go again.... So close yet so far" Then I realized the bricks were counting down. :) :o
I will post a few pictures of some nice serial number sets I made from the brick as well.
-
Out of curiousity when you order your bricks have you ever been able to ask for a specific prefix?
-
Out of curiousity when you order your bricks have you ever been able to ask for a specific prefix?
Unfortunately not, at least from my experience.
-
Not in the slightest.
Actually sometimes you need to cross your fingers for new notes.
The notes come from a depot, it is most likely that the people in tyhe office taking the order never actually see the people picking and filling the orders (Security measure).
-
Thanks Arthur!
Now I'm beginning to understand why you brick-searchers get so excited about leafing through these bricks!
VERY NICE indeed!!

I finally completed my Jenkins Dodge two digit radar set with the 2006 $5 I bought from Gary Fedora at the CNA !!! It took me three years to complete this set. The $50.00 was very hard to find.
You can see my set if you click here:
http://pages.videotron.com/transam/set.JPG
If anybody can help me, I'm still looking for a 1988 two digit radar $100 with the Knight Thiessen signature in UNC to complete my K-T set.
-
I purchased the error note below from Joe Iorio (J&M Coin and Jewellery) at a Torex Show in October 2004.
{http://www.davgro.com/images/cpmf/1954_$2_Fold_Front.jpg}
I saw a similar error note at the June 2007 Torex show and purchased it from Monnaies De Versailles.
When I got home I was pleasantly surprised to find that the note was in sequence to my existing error
note thus forming a nice set.

After viewing this set,and having several dealers confirm that this set was indeed Original Unc i purchased it.My initial doubts were how could such a set survive in original condition.Don O as well as a few others assured me my intial grading was correct.
-
The elusive *IO in consecutive order and in GEM UNC condition
-
A rare sequence of fourteen (14) consecutive 1954 $1 *X/F replacement notes in Choice / GEM UNC.

Trouble seperating these C Gem Unc's,couldn't scam 'em all ;)
Change over H/A DF C/Towers
-
Hi Twoinvallarta,
I think your sequence of *I/O was originally longer since I own number *I/O 0641791. I guess they should be in the same UNC condition as mine.

And what Unc condition is yours, according to the 3 new Uncs in the new catalogue?

My note must be Choice UNC or GEM UNC, I don't remember exactly since it is in my Safety Deposit Box.
-
Not as nice as other sets I have seen, but you have to start somewhere. 8)
Gary, thanks for the APC
-
Very nice! Now to find the 1954,1972 and 1986.

Nice set Mike. I like the contrast of the '37 with the Journey IZ-A-NICE ;D
Maybe you'll get lucky, and a forum member will have some of the other series for you to add.
JAGSHEMASH!!
-
I dont have any pics of my notes but i almost have three full sets of the 1954 modified series, all in EF+ to Gem UNC Cond.

Here is a set of notes that I have that I finally got scanned.

Nice Set Gary :)

Interesting Set Gary
-
The last set I put up were near changeover numbered notes. The first Bonin/ Thiessen $2 note was number EGR 2000000.
-
This matched numbered set that I have gave me some trouble scanning. The security features of the journey note was shutting down my scanner but I ended up hiding most of the journey note under the other one. These would be repeater notes and the 1954 is a changeover aswell.

How about this near-full set (darn the high prices of the 1935 series) of $10s?

Very nice. The Tens are my favourite denomination. I'm still looking for a few signature combinations including the 1935 and Devil's Face.
-
That's a nice 1937 $10 you have.
-
Thank you. Unfortunately, however, it has severe wrinkling on the right-hand side so it's condition is only VF-EF.
-
Sets like that look so cool. You can see how the Bank Of Canada changed over the years.
Very Nice!
-
You should try to get a set like that for every denomination platyfish124!
-
Here is my set of replacements, I'm working on the others.

Thank you CJ!
I know you love em'. ;)

Nice set!

When I started this thread I was thinking of matched numbered sets, but there have been some replacement notes in sequence added so I thought I'd add this set of three.

That's really cool Gary!
Can you also believe this is over 11 THOUSAND views?
Wow.

These two were found about a year apart.

What are the odds? They're not even radars too. Way to go!

Here are two 1954 *X/F notes I scanned today. The numbers are 1000 apart. HOLY MOLY those are some big scans but it's the first time I've used imageshack.

Yup, Jackie have a nice set :)
That looks awfully familiar I think I was outbid on this set by only $100 :'( $5500 sure looks like a bargain today. Not sure if the current owner is the guy who outbid me though. In reality I only wanted the two A/R's and the U/B... I'd pay about that much now only for those three.

Vow - I wonder if these notes are picked up by people who work in financial institutions or at the printing companies. What are the chances to run into these?
