Title: Jenkins Dodge 2003
Post by: Sammi on May 16, 2005, 11:18:25 pm
What are your thoughts on the Jenkins Dodge BEK 10$ note printed in 2003.. I gather they are quite scarce but how scarce are they?

I have almost 400 brand new J-D $10s printed in 2003 with prefix BEN.

I doubt they are very special.

I believe Sammi was referring strictly to the 2003 J/D BEK notes, not the BEN notes.

Sorry, I thought Sami was referring to the whole 2003 print series in general  :-X

Thanks Hudson for your information . They are always useful. I was trying for a long time to have these BEK prefixes in UNC.

I have the feeling that any BEK 2003 notes will be go up in price.I have not seen any yet either. In fact, have only ever seen BES.

I was just into a bank today talking about the new $10s, and they are under strict orders to not dispense ANY old $10s after tomorrow.  So, you'd best be acting fast if you want some of these notes.

Thats really interesting... i'll bet that any UNC original journey 10 will be worth hanging onto. Looks like it may be a similar scenario to the devils face $10 back in 1956 when it was replaced with the modified version.

...And how would we ever find out official numbers of "availablility"?

Well I think that's the collectors job to find out  ;)
The BoC will sometime give change over numbers, but I think they never give information about "recall" or partially issue prefixes.

Well, one could always ASK the Bank of Canada. ::)

Hi All,

Is there a possibility that there are BEK inserts below the range (9534800-9662546) that is listed in the high/low table?

The reason I ask is that I'm trying to figure out if a BEK note ( BEK9512778 ) on eBay is really an insert.

Thanks,
     Duane

BEK 9.51 is in the insert range. I think the range may end up  being around 9.30 to 9.70.

I've read  the regular non insert BEK notes J/D below 9.51...... are also quite scarce.. Is this accurate?

From discussion with other fellow members, we are quite certain that the BEK inserts start at 9.30 million range.   So. I agree with Sudzee's comments.

As for the non-inserts, only a limited number of notes have been reported.  As well, it seems the ranges discovered so far are very limited.  For example, all notes discovered are below BEK9.0 million.

For the inserts, it's been discovered from 9.3 million to 9.6 or 9.7 million.  That's it.  Nothing else.
