May 5th:
Toronto Coin Expo finds, Part 2:
This 1954 $1 has a phone number written on it and the name “Diae” (Possibly “Diane”?”

These 1973 $1s are neat.  One note has a partial teller stamp but there’s not enough information to get a location.

One note has the name “Marie” written in black sharpie.
One note has the name “Mary B.” Written on the front and back of the note.
The last note has dark circles drawn around the Queen’s eyes.

Enjoy!

May 5th:
Toronto Coin Expo pickups, Part 1.

I got these notes from the Toronto Coin Expo on the weekend.

This multicolour $50 has a nice date stamp on it…Nov 1 79 Toronto.

This 1979 $5 has the pink stamp of death from The Royal Bank of Canada Toronto, Ont.  Unfortunately, the branch name is very hard to read and so is the date.  🙁

This 1954 $1 has a nice lear message written in ink: “June 22-25 1958 Ottawa.”

Enjoy!

Hi Everyone,

I got this 50 cent coin from the bank today and it has what looks to be a 'slash' through it with some sort of substance stuck on the ends.  Wondering if anyone has seen this before and knows what it is?

Cheers,
Breanna

This peculiar INH prefix note with what looks to be missing ink on both the blue background and also missing black ink on the serial numbers.  Any comments on this note are appreciated.  What could have caused this?
Hi Dean,

Wondering if that kind of damage could be caused by a note being "stuck" in a cash dispenser or counting machine and being "pulled out" by the user?  Just a guess.  :-\

Hope you're feeling better.  :)

Cheers, Breanna

April 29th finds:
I have been feeling under the weather for the past few days and have not visited my usual banks.  I did however stop by my local bank this afternoon to pick up a few rolls of dimes.

Unfortunately, there was nothing great in these rolls, only a 2023 and 2024 King Charles pair of dimes were worthy of mentioning.  I didn’t expect much from only $75 worth of coins, but that’s the nature of coin roll hunting.

Enjoy!

April 27th:  No paper money today…But lots of dimes!

Let’s see what’s in $350 worth of dime rolls!

Stay tuned…

Dean

Update:

Out of this batch of rolls, I was able to find:

Five Bluenose under sail (two coloured).
Seven 2017 commemoratives
17x US dimes
13 x 1968 nickel alloy dimes
3x 1969 (one really nice one).
Nice 1987 and 1988 dimes
One TTC token.
One UK 5 pence, 1992
Best of all, two silver dimes, 1957 and 1967!

April 26th finds:

2 banks, 2 scores!

I visited 2 banks on my way home today.  The first bank had no paper notes, but the teller said she had some US quarters that she would sell to me at par.  So I got $18 US for $18 Canadian dollars.

At the second bank, the teller offered me five birds $1000 bills.  Unfortunately, they were all VG/F and not worth keeping.  She also had $8.50 in big nickel dollars and 50c pieces and seven rolls of pennies.

Funny enough, the most interesting finds were in the regular cash I took out of the bank machine…

A 3 digit radar note, HCK 5799975
A heavily circulated HCB prefix note…Unfortunately not an insert note.
And,
This peculiar INH prefix note with what looks to be missing ink on both the blue background and also missing black ink on the serial numbers.  Any comments on this note are appreciated.  What could have caused this?

Enjoy!

Hi,
Today I used my black light on the 2$(with extra red tint) without planchets and nothings appear on the front side.On the back side I do not sew plachets but with the black light and two little round appear like the same size of planchet but no planchet is visible, with my 10x magnifying glass I saw something inside the circle looks like a triangle? In 1974 2$ they have two prefix with a modified tint and original tint.Is this possible it could be something like that in 2$ 1986??I do not sew the both 2$ 1974 with and without original tint to sew the difference .The thing I realize about the large quantity of 2$ 1986 I saw it's the BABN printer are more red(tint) than the CBN printer.
If you have information about that,I apreciate if you share it with us.
Thank you.
Claude
