Title: Distillerie de St. Denis (Wolfred Nelson et Cie)
Post by: paper1848 on July 26, 2011, 03:12:28 pm
I'm also starting a new census of these interesting 1837 scrip, which don't seem to come up for auction very often.

If you have any of these, I'd really appreciate it if you would send me a description, including denomination, issue date, serial number, and condition. Most of those I've seen are signed Kimber (lower left) and Wolfred Nelson (lower right), or Nelson alone, but please let me know if yours are different or unsigned, as some are signed by Wofred Nelson and countersigned by his son, Horace Nelson, or others. In addition to the printed  date (e.g., 9 Octobre, 1837), some of them have hand-written dates at lower left (e.g., 19 Nov 1837) that are likely the actual issue dates, and  I'd also like to know those. I'd also appreciate any information on pedigree (auction in which you bought it or whatever). I'm happy to keep your ownership of the note(s) confidential, if you like, by listing its whereabouts as "private collection".

I wanted to post that the 10 Sous issue looks like they were changed from 12 Sous at the top left.   I thought I owed some but apparently not.
