Post by: Hudson A B on August 05, 2007, 05:36:56 pm
I am having a HECK of a time finding any of these things...

And the Cycle -4 notes are nearly just as hard to find.

Has anyone experinced the same thing?

Cycle 3:
7527527 (same 3 numbers repeat)

Cycle 4:
7528752 (A cycle of four number is repetitive)

More details are on the bottom of page 367

What do you mean by OLDER cycle 3 notes?

What do you mean by OLDER cycle 3 notes?

I mean pre-Journey series notes...

I managed to find a few, but that took me hitting every major store in Vancouver, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Most in Calgary, then plus all the dealers at the CNA.  And those are the only ones I found - and they let me sift through a huge amount of stock.

I am thinking that the survival rate may be even less-- and of course I doubt if many were saved fresh as new.....

As it is, 1 per 10,000 for cycle 3, and 1 per 1000 per cycle 4, makes them more scarce and just as scarce as radar notes -butof course people a while back at least SAVED radar notes...

These are going to be tough to find...

AL-Bob, your Z/L 1361361 note is beautiful.   :o  Look at those ripples!

Here are some older repeaters I have:

A spender by all accounts if not for the fact it is a Cycle-4 repeater and on the low side of the AJC changeover.   ;)

Quote
Wow, Arthur!  About the only thing that note is not is blessed by the Pope!

How to Receive a Papal Blessing

To get a Benediction Papalis, visit your diocese's Chancery Office. They will have you fill out paperwork, answering
questions pertaining to the sort of blessing you want, what language you want the certificate to be written in, what
style of certificate you want, etc. They will need the full name of your priest, parish, town and country so there is
witness to the fact that you are, indeed, Catholic (you can just call the Chancery's office and they will send you the
papers).

The cost is around $40, the proceeds from which go to feed the poor. To be safe, allow 6 months to receive your
certificate if you're wanting it by a certain date

Beware: don't try to get a Papal Blessing through the internet or some mailing you might receive: scammers are out
there. Be sure to go through your diocese!

A true Cycle-3 repeater!  ;D

CJ, really like your shinplaster repeater, no one else seems to have found any cycle-3's except for the odd radar that happens to fall in this category as well. Happy hunting.  ;D

I have an UNC 1954 $1 J/N 8188188.  Don't have a pic just yet but I'll get one before I post in the Trading area.
Still considered a 3-cycle repeater? Value?

thanks,
Craig

Sorry, but I don't think 9661966 would be considered a birth year note.   0001966 would be a birth year.   If "966" could somehow be arranged into a date it could be considered as a birth day note by some collectors but there is no 66th of september or 96th of june.

Very nice replacement repeater though!  ;D

Hi BV,

To be frank I think it is another form of repeater. It admit it does have an asthetic numerical appeal too. I have a few of them.
AOJ 3844438
AOL 1399913
AOL 1311113 actually I don't own this one anymore.
These do not follow the 3 or 4-cycle convention but in a different way. To coin a new term; Wide repeater?
ABxxxAB

AON 2486824 maybe this may be stretching too far.

Many enquiring thoughts, Dei Gratia

At the very least it would be a 5-cycle repeater wouldn't it?  I remember a $1 1937 with this kind of number selling for a really good price a while ago (almost double in value)!! Perhaps the "cleaner" the middle digits the more appealing it is, like: 9200092.

Hi, yes, this is technically a Cycle 5 Repeater.  ABCDE AB.  1 per 100 notes, thus not rare enough for the catalogue.  Although they may look asthetically pleasing.

Thanks for the clarification Hudson, this note is a 3 cycle as well as a radar.
Charlton made this one easy for me by using this serial # as an example.lol!
