I'm guessing this is fabricated but just figured I would see what y'all think?
-
Yeah saw that one too, only seen a few of these in auction and none were solid number overprint
-
If you look at the 9’s they seem the same as the 9 that’s in the original number.
What looks odd to me is the right serial number, the middle nine looks to be lower then the rest.
I don’t know if it’s mechanically possible but what makes you suspicious of it being authentic?
Cheers, Bill
-
I would not touch it, especially at the sellers asking price
-
What makes me very suspicious is that one number is a normal number and the other number is a solid 9s. If it was the same number printed twice or a consecutive number then it might make more sense. Even a random number but what are the chances of solid 9s showing up??
Also, the serial number is printed twice but not the prefix. Are these printed in two separate steps?? Alignment isn't quite right either as pointed out by Hounddog. Just looks very fishy.
Although if you are trying to sell fake errors probably better to start them at $1 and let the bidders go wild. Perhaps the seller actually thinks it's real. Or just being greedy.
Have any (authentic) serial number errors occurred on Polymer notes that we know of?

-biggest "red flag" for me since the prefix should have also printed & the fonts on bogus notes/manufactured errors are wrong (plus SN should either be same, near or random- which is all I've ever seen of the few Journey SN errors).

I have not seen one.

Here's a really unbelievable made up error on feebay. I guess someone had those fancy zig-zag scissors laying around and thought it would be fun to trim this banknotes edge. People will try anything I guess
-
I wonder if next week he will
have one that was cut all around the entire bill
Or better yet the ultra rare snowflake ❄️ design
-
And another one... 😔
-
Here is a more believeable $50 polymer error. It has the prefix and the serial number double printed. Note that the banknote is not TPG
-
Only my opinion and my eyes are not great
But does the font look different on the “9”?
-
The first A and the numbers size seem slightly different... 🤔
-
Another feebay supposed error :o
-
I think this is getting more ridiculous each time

Hey guys, noticed this find in my wallet today. This is a GEM UNC 2013 $5 Macklem/Poloz specimen with a RARE printing error on top of Wilfrid Laurier. Normally I would charge upwards of $1000 for such a note, but because I like you guys I will give you a steal of a deal at $350 firm. PM for offers

Does your price include free xpresspost shipping and will the note
Be in a currency holder?😀

WOW lucky find, I wish I would be that lucky ::) :D
-
Too bad that's not one of my marked Where's Willy bills.
-
I'd have found one by now if you entered more than two a year!
-
I made them an offer for that $50 solid serial number over print of $550 and it was refused. After reading this trend I am glad it was.

The plot thickens...
My wife's account manager at her bank sent her a photo of this note that he found:

Serial number looks nearly identical to the eBay note. My best guest is AMA 1697356 meaning it would have come from the same sheet as the other note. And it was found in circulation. Maybe there is more to this than we thought?
