Just wanted to let everybody know that Tom Merritt (known here as "Tom") has recently taken over the "World Bank Note" business from Don Olmstead and Kari McCormick.
As you should all know, Tom is a Global Moderator here on the board and a pretty good friend to all of us. Don, Kari and Tom have known each other for a long time and I am personally confident that Tom will continue to run the World Note business with the same high level of professionalism and integrety we have known all three for.
Tom will run the business as "TCM World Currency" and will continuing with the mailing lists that were published and mailed out to the world currency collectors. If you or anyone you know wants to be added to his list, just email him at worldnotes@rarenotes.net. Tom will be at the Torex Show.
I'm a bit confused though, you mean there are notes OTHER than Canadian notes that people collect? ::)

Congratulations Tom!
I hope you have a smooth transition and I wish you nothing but success for the future!

Wow, does that mean he could offer the forum members some extra good deals? I do like a lot of South American notes.

Careful now Tom, as a dealer, you are not supposed to solicite here...lol
Louis ;) ;D

My favourite
is the Central American note
the famous Panama 1 Balboa that was issued for 7 days. Its a gorgeous note but hard to find and to afford.

BTW: congrats Tom! ;D

The event such that I happened to just dust off an old Krause catalogue on International notes is merely coincidental. :D ;D

The 1 Balboa 1941 note is certainly most attractive and very scarce but it is available without too much difficulty (there's one on eBay right now in F-VF at $1500). However, just try and find the 5, 10 & 20 Balboas from the same set! The set of four notes catalogues at well over US$20,000 in Unc (whatever Unc really means these days ::)) and over US$5000 in VG.
I seem to recall that these notes circulated at par with US Dollars at the time they were issued.
