Topic: Heritage Auctions scans in notes too bright.  (Read 4213 times)

I like to look at and download some nice looking notes from Heritage Auctions, but I've noticed that especially U.S. star notes or rarer notes or notes in AU condition, they jack up the contrast in the scan. I'm sure they do that to hide some flaws with the bill because all the subtle shades and detail of the note itself are gone leaving only the design of the note, but you can't see the paper to detect wrinkles/kinks/light folds, marks, imperfections, etc... All the background has this bleached white look to them. Here is some examples that I'm talking about: The first link is what the scan should look like, the other four are where they jacked up contrast way too much.

You can use the tools on the right hand side to make them darker as well as zoom in. I like the Heritage site alot more than many other sites.
