Title: Asterisk/9 notes
Post by: JB-2007 on January 09, 2005, 04:53:33 pm
Has anyone ever found an asterisk note or one of those 9 serial numbered notes in change at a canadian tire store. I have have never seen one yet in change  :(

Never found a number 9 note in change from a CTC store.  But at the gas bar with a 6x multiplier on 60 litres of gas you get $2.40 back.  I ask for new 5 cent coupons which would be 48 coupons and I have found replacement notes this way.  Last year I got about 8 number 9 replacements.  Stinger.

Actually if i recall in charlton, the qty printed of canadian tire asterisk notes are really really low, so odds of finding one in change are very slim. You are much much more likely to find a replacement note in the bank of Canada currency then you would in Canadian tire coupons.

I found an asterik note some time ago. I still have it, but it will likely take me a few days to find it. When I do, I'll try and post a pic.

It is quite possible to get asterisk notes at the store.  Also the gas bar.  Its a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

Sometimes if the cashiers are not very busy and you are nice to them they might look through some coupons to see if they have any to trade you.

CTC notes starting with 900----- are replacement notes but notes starting with 99------ seen on the one dollar issue of 1998 (released in 2000) and on the 2002 25cent issue are not replacements. In the 2002 25 cent issue, notes starting with "99" are regular notes but notes starting with "999" are replacements.

Here's a scan of a consecutive run of Asterisk notes on an earlier CTC note (Bilodeau #CTC-S13). This issue carries a 1987 Copyright date in the top margin on the back. This is one of the commonest CTC Asterisk notes.
