Hello Everyone

I am new here but I have been picking up bills for years. Came across this one a while ago.

Replacement note and lucky number 7's any idea on price? I would expect that this is very rare but I not really interested in selling it.

Sorry for the cockeyed picture.

If you had solid 7's and a bit better condition then you would get a big big price. It's still a nice note but it's a bit like a lottery ticket that is just one number away from the winning number. As they often say, "A miss is as good as a mile" ... at least that's my philosophy.

" Buy the very best notes that you can afford and keep them for at least 10 years. " (Richard D. Lockwood, private communication, 1978).

Many thanks for your reply I was hoping that due to it being a replacement note that would help the value. I have some other great near misses I will post some day. LOL

In my opinion, if it wasn't a replacement note it wouldn't be very interesting at all, at least not in well circulated condition. If it was in Unc someone might pay $300-$500 or so. If it was a solid 7's non-replacement note in Unc it would be worth about $700 or so.

About 3,280,000 *B/B Asterisk notes were issued so some solid serial numbers were certainly issued, i.e., *B/B 1,111,111, and *B/B 2,222,222. If one of these ever came up in Unc they would likely sell for $2,000 or more, but that's only a guess. Since a solid 7's *B/B Asterisk note was never issued then your note has the maximum number of 7's possible and someone might buy it as a "lucky note". I would suggest a value of $150-$200 in the given condition but that's a wild guess on my part.  The only real way to find out what your note is worth is to auction it, either on this Forum, on eBay or elsewhere. Good luck!

I do agree that this note would be very expensive to purchase if it was in Unc Condition because there was only around 3,280,000 so there was never a 7777777 note printed (Like Ottawa said). But I don't think it would be worth $150-$200. I was thinking around $100 maybe $120. Just because of its grade, and its nothing that special (No offense Steiner) its just one of those "close but no cigar" kind of notes if you know what I mean.  :D

I have 1954 $1 *A/A 0111111.   Since this series ended at 0466000 or so this is as close to a solid radar as I can get!

Thanks for all your comments. I really like this note also because my nickname is BB. I know I paid less than $10 for it. So in many ways it is my lucky $2.

I think this would sell on ebay for between $50. - $100 but closer to $50.

I've seen worse notes sell for more and I know of a note with the number *M/Y0044444 for sale at $300 in UNC. but it has been for sale at this price for awhile so I guess it's too much.
