You are invited to join us in celebration!
This gala dinner will highlight the extraordinary leadership of Emily Murphy, Henrietta Muir Edwards, Irene Parlby, Nellie McClung and Louise McKinney, the five remarkable Alberta women who successfully challenged the interpretation of the clause of the BNA Act that barred women from appointment to the Senate of Canada. We are delighted that we can return to the very site they gathered in 1929 for their own victory celebration, and would be honoured to have you join us!
Commemorating the event will be remarks by Bank of Canada Governor David Dodge about the new $50 bill, featuring the Famous 5 and Therese Casgrain, which celebrates those Canadians who have campaigned for the rights of all citizens.
