Title: value of 2 1954 100 dollar bills
Post by: shoshana on May 07, 2009, 09:56:01 am
what would be your guess as to the value of a:
1954 elesyne(?)-towers 100 dollar bill in VF condition, i think, with a bit of pen writing on it, serial # AJ1501440?
I also have a:
1954 lawson-bouery(?) 100 dollar bill in AU condition, i think, serial # CJ1976758.
An acquaintance paid off an old debt using these, but i know very little about money collecting! Thanks for all help.

Hello,
Your first note is a Devils' Face variety, Coyne/Towers AJ1501440. The writing on the note would decrease the value and grade. This note would likely have a book value of $160 - $200. The second note Lawson/Bouey CJ1976758 is a modified note ( no devils' face) and in AU has a book value of $225.  Please note that Book Values are only a guide, I suggest checking for your type of notes on Ebay to see real selling prices.
If you are able to post pictures a more accurate value and grade could be established, you could always post in the Trading Post.

Thanks for posting.
