Those are the serial number ranges expressed in millions. So, 9.720M-9.990M would be the range from 9720000 through 9989999 inclusive for a total of 270,000 notes.

Hello Everyone,  I just started in this hobby, I really like this site . I find it an excellent  place to learn about paper money. I need  some info please.
In the Charlton book, on page 331  $20 Issue ( 2004) under the
Signature and Prefixes column  ( Jenkins- Dodge ;EZL (9.720 M - 9.990M) What do these numbers mean . I would really appreciate some help from one  of the many  collectors in this group.
9.720-9.990M   actually is serial #'s 9720000-9990000 (sheet replacement range)
Hope that helps and welcome to the forum

Thats correct Friedsquid, this is why charlton has a qty printed of 270,000 and not 280,000.
I always thought that the range given for many of the Journey 20's 9.72-9.99M Included all notes from 9720000 through to 9999999... in other words, suppose i find EZL9998780 or say EZL 9990001 these would not be considered replacements. I learn something new everyday!
