Found this 10$ note, spring 2006 in Quebec city.
Beside a real note, it looks quite obvious...

It's not a fake. It's a new and unique replacement note with prefix AAX. ;D
-
In case Phil's sarcasm was not totally clear, the note is indeed fake. I have seen one with the same prefix.
-
Thats definitly a fake. I agree with Brent on this one.
-
Of course it is fake.
-AAX prefix (tiny letters, black ink went through the paper)
-this bill is 2-3mm longer and 1mm larger than a real one
-They screw up big time with the blue ribbon on the back, down-left corner ("lest we forget").
-
I've seen a good one as well. It is JUI76543219. This prefix was never issued and there are 1 to many digits (5 minutes of research by the creator of this one and it would have been almost passable) ;D. It is almost a ladder note to boot! ;)

My friend received one, too. He probably obtained it from a dollar store or a small produce shop. I remember seeing another fake bill similar to this one posted on a cash register at a dollar store with the word fake written across it....
I have the pics of the observe and reverse here (I didn't have a 2001 issue $10 dollar bill so I had to compare it with a $5):

Thats one of the better looking fakes that I have seen well it is from the picture maybe not in real life but at least the serial number isnt prefix AAA lol

I checked with the bank on Friday and the teller said it was not a fake. She did not use a currency counter though so it might of not been noticeable to the naked eye.
I'll double check and tell them to use a currency counter.
EDIT
The note was NOT a fake according to that Bank of Canada pamphlet (finally came!) that I found in the mail a few minutes ago. :)
