Hello All,
Saw these notes in the lates CNCA and fell in love.
Anyone know the rarity are these a solid investment or should I stay away because they are difficult sell later on in life?
Thank you for any information.

I don't think these are exceedingly rare but you don't see them all over the place either. Proofs in general are getting more popular but still tend to be cheap (for the rarity) so if you're in love with them and can buy them for a good price then go for it.
Don't buy them as an investment. Buy them because you enjoy them. They are very beautiful and I'm sure you won't have any problem selling them later on as long as you're not expecting to make a huge profit.
Full disclosure: I do own a set of these myself and still couldn't care less about what they might be worth.

Yes, lots of great million and solid serials & rare registry notes being auctioned today at the Torex.
Anyone here bidding online?
-
I watched for a bit, but got depressed that I couldn't buy any of them. :-[
I have my eye on some items for the Monday Auction. Fingures crossed. ;D
-
How much did they sell for? I didn't even see these in the auction.
-
I think these proofs are in the upcoming RCNA sale, not Torex.
-
yup, in the next one. A bit all over the place in prices. I scoped out some Union notes on eBay and they are asking $1000 and over for VF graded notes. In the upcoming RCNA sale The are estimated at $600-$1000 in MS-60 plus grades. I assume they will go for more then the estimate and over BV, Just like the 1942 tombac 5 cent ms-65 I had my eye on. :-[
I couldn't find these Union Notes in the Charlton Book, Anyone know where this information can be found?
-
Page 496 in the 9th edition, under Proofs.
-
Wow, 9th edition of the Charlton?
Mine is the 30th edition. Thank you for the info and I will search for the edition.
Much appreciated for the conversation on these notes. I am sure these will sell for well above $5,000.00 each.

Sorry, you are thinking of the wrong book.
Union Bank of Canada notes will not be in any edition of Canadian Government Paper Money ever.
You need Canadian Bank Notes, which is much larger (and unfortunately a lot more expensive).
If you are going to do much with chartered bank notes you should probably get a copy.
Values for UNC are $500 for $5, $10, $20; $600 for $50 and $700 for $100. Don't even think of paying thousands each - a previous conversation was exactly right: you don't see them every day but they aren't terribly hard to find either. Be patient and you should eventually be able to get them at or near catalogue (which took a big drop in the last edition for the good reason that they were not getting the prices formerly listed.)

Nice notes, color and design

Thanks Bob! Gonna get me one of the catalogs. Seems like a logical investment.
