Title: 50 $1 Star Notes!
Post by: cdn_guy on October 14, 2004, 05:57:29 pm
Today from the bank I got  50 American star notes all consective all UNC!!!
I am not really a collector of American notes but hey I couldn't pass up the opportunity of these notes....
Does anyone have an idea of what they would be worth?
Unsure of the sigs it looks like: Posaus Anertin and John W Snow
The seal that is black has the Federal Bank Reserve with the letter B
and the numbers range from 08471201*-08471250*
Any ideas?
Thanks,

You would have to tell the print year and the letter in front of the serial number.

My book may be out dated but I'll let you know when you send that info.

Well as I thought my book is out dated already, but it seems that letter  B notes would come from New York.

I'd say watch ebay maybe?

Sorry I was not more help.

Marin-Snow notes would be Series 2003, and the B is indeed Federal reserve Bank of New York.   At the time the most recent catalogue was published these star  notes were still very low printage(320,000) and were  catalogued at $100.   However, I  supect that more star notes have probably been printed since that catalogue went to press, ,which would, of course, drive their value down. Still, it might not be a bad idea to hang onto yours for a while just to be sure.  You lucky devil!

There have been a total of 3,840,000 B-* Series 2003 notes printed.

The first print run, in January 2004, started with B00000001* and ended with B00320000* for a total of 320,000 notes.

The second print run, in March 2004, started with B03200001* and ended with B03520000* for a total of 320,000 notes.

The third (and so far final) print run, in April 2004, started with B06400000* and ended with B09600000* for a total of 3,200,000 notes.

This significant amount of Series 2003 B-* $1 notes, especially the third range, serves to plummet the value of the notes.  I would suspect however, that notes from the initial two ranges would be worth more.
