Title: Star Note
Post by: SaintMichael999 on March 18, 2011, 02:58:04 pm
How about a 2004 US star note EF 01141287 in Unc?
I see on uspapermoney.info that there were 3.84 million star notes.  Am I reading that correctly?  I would assume that since there are so many, it makes it less valuable?

This one has a total of 3,200,000 printed. Its worth $50 in CU so a little less in just UNC. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info.  I go through a fair bit of US paper money at work.  What pricing book would you recommend for average bills in circulation like the star notes?

There are several books out there on US banknotes. The book i use is the "Standard guide to Small-Size US Paper Money 1928-Date" 7th edition (2006). Its a good reference book to use if you do need any info on a certain star note or any other issue. Price listings though, not so great as they only give the price for VF (in older notes) and CU. Overall, its a good book.

Do you come across star notes on a regular basis?

Actually quite a few, although they are usually well circulated so I don't bother keeping them.  Also most of the star notes are $1's.

Watch for Web-press $1's
