Hello CPMF,
Here is a $10 Canadian Journey series note with an interesting story. A clever fellow working at the Bank of Canada received an invitation to the official release of the first Canadian Journey Series bank notes in Ottawa on January 17 2001. Many staff attended to celebrate the launch and exchanged cash for some brand new bank notes. He obtained a few new $10 notes and took them to the bank’s mail office to get date stamped to celebrate the day.
I’m not a stamp guy however I think this might be the closest we paper money people get to a first day cover!
I have a few more and plan to share them on their release days.
Cheers,

Interesting story. Will be looking forward to seeing some of your other "First day cover" notes.
I once got a 2004 BER $10 that was AU or thereabouts with a "Where's Willy" stamp. I remember being pretty annoyed as the note was in great shape & I didn't have 2004 BER note. I put it back into the wild too, since I was not fond of ink stamps on banknotes- though yours should be interesting.

Very cool Just Bank Notes.
Nice to see the stamping is by the “Bank of Canada”. Haven’t seen that date stamp before.

Hello CPMF,
Here is my "first day cover" of the Canadian Journey Series $100 from March 17 2004. It is nice to see that this note has the first prefix BJY and a serial number near the beginning of the print run.

I have BJY0027171 but sadly no "first day cover" postmark.

Hello CPMF,
Here is my “first day cover” of the Journey $5 bank note issued on March 27 2002 making this the twentieth anniversary! Anybody else feel older?
We can see that the bundle of notes provided for the Bank of Canada’s ceremony were less than 35,000 from the end of the ANY prefix. I wish someone had thought to provide a bundle including the solid 9’s or with low serial numbers. Perhaps we collectors forget that the Bank is an institution carrying out its objectives and bank notes are a small part of it.

Hello CPMF,
Here is my “first day cover” of the upgraded Journey $10 bank note issued on May 18 2005.
This bank note is interesting because FER 9777694 is a sheet replacement from the FER 9.320-9.990 range.

I'm not a big fan of stamped notes but I have to admit that "First day cover" stamp looks nice. The FER replacement is a huge bonus & in fantastic GEM like condition too (well centred, etc) ! Thanks for sharing!

Good Morning CPMF,
Here is another "first day cover" type note. This $20 bank note was issued 18 years ago today. (I only have one more to go.)

Hello CPMF,
Here is my final “first day cover”. It is the Journey $50 bank note issued on November 17 2004.
This dedicated effort to obtain BOC receiving stamps on Journey bank notes spanned four years from 2001 to 2005. It only missed the final Journey note, an upgraded $5 released in November 2006.
