$15 per brick, base bank cost.
YES, this means, we will have even LESS searchers!
Being sarcastic about the enthusiasm.
Its about a 33% increase in base costs.
So,. the next time your friendly brick searcher goes 100 bricks without any significant find, well, send a prayer they don't stop bricking, otherwise our data stream will greatly be impacted.
As is, we are done to 4 to 5 people on $20s now, from what I understand.

Is the price increase confirmed to be across all banks and branches?

I know it is for Caisse Desjardins, price for ordering are now 15$ since october 1st instead of 11$ per brick.

2 of the big 5 have confirmed this with me already.
Plus Caisse Desjardins now, so I would say this is in the bag.

Looks like not only Brickers will feel the squeeze in increased fees but Radar Collectors as well. In hindsight 2009 might have been a great year for Radar collectors as prices have been on the low end.

Well... it looks like it will be across the board, I was able to see the official fax from the BOC sent to all banks. :'(
Looks like radars are going to get a little more expensive.

This is just a guess, but perhaps the rising fees will encourage more searching in higher denominations? If you're going to pay $15 for a brick no matter what denomination it is, wouldn't it make more sense to buy one $20 brick instead of four $5 bricks?
As for radars... maybe they'll start levelling off in price instead of going down over time because everyone is saving them :-[

No really as there's no guaranteed of getting a Radar and this is what pays for bricking fees.

I don't know if bricking has evolved into a singular for-profit activity, but it didn't start out that way. When discernible replacement notes were phased out around 1996, the only way to find replacement notes was to look through bricks of new notes. Brick hunters shared information on their finds and constructed insert replacement ranges. Without the sharing of information, nobody would know the difference between an insert and a regular note. By default, at least a portion of all the brick hunters out there have to be doing something other than just pulling radars. I thought insert notes were helping to pay the bricking fees. Shouldn't there be inserts in $20 bricks? And anyway, radars are not statistically scarcer or more common today than they were 10 years ago. If you get a $20 brick with no radar in it one day, who is to say that wouldn't get another $20 brick with at least two radars in it some other day?
