Title: 1935 Royal Bank of Canada $5.00 bill
Post by: Nicole19 on January 28, 2010, 02:12:52 pm
I have a 1935 Royal Bank of Canada $5.00 bill. It was signed by Sidney G Dobson ( general manager)  and Morris W. Wilson ( president). It is dated Jan. 2, 1935.

Can someone give an approximate value of this note?

Thank you in advance and i await your reply.

What's the serial number?  Also, what condition is it in?  Condition is everything when determining value.

The serial Number is 1955432 and I would say it is somewhere between fine and very fine.

Thanks.

According to the serial number, it should have the more common larger signatures.  The latest Charlton catalogue puts Fine at $100 and VF at $175.  Since the 1935 issue is relatively common, most circulated examples sell for under catalogue at auction, even problem-free examples.  Tears, pinholes and pen marks would drop the value considerably.
