Hello,
We have inherited several Modified Devil $1000 dollar head bills and about a dozen 1000 dollar bird notes and am trying to establish if any are worth more than face value and if so how do you go about selling them?
I have done some reseach to the grading system chart but am new to this!
I have scanned and uploaded pictures of most of the bills. Any answers help greatly appreciated.
The condition of the modified devils heads: 20 are BC61a 1 is BC61b
4 of them I deem as AU or EF
14 of them I deep as EF to VF
2 of them F
1 of them G
3 of them are also concecutive s/n
The Bird ones are all EF - AU
Each scan set front and then back is: 1a and 1b 2a and 2b 3a and 3b 4a and 4b 5a and 5b The Birds are 6 and 7

Hi,
The notes in F or G grades are worth face value. You could take them to the bank. The others could be worth upwards of 1100-1200 depending on condition. I would not expect to realize more than 1100 because of the low demand for this denomination. Hey, you could offer them at face or slightly above to members of the forum and at least you'll get your money back (and save the notes from the shredder)
If any of the 1988 notes are replacements (with an X as the 3rd letter in the serial number) they are worth a premium (maybe 1100-1250 depending on grade)
Hope this helps,
Dean

Resized images. Here goes try number three!

Thanks Dean. I have posted some of the scanned bills, maybe you can find them as I can't see where they went.
I have no problem saving them from the shredder and also making a collector happy at the same time.
How do you proceed with such a sale keeping everyone safe :-)
Thanks

Another attempt at providing some images :-)
Fist 1a 1b set is not uploaded will have to shrink them more if it is worth it after you see the others and if my estimation of their condition makes it worth it.

Hi Damien,
If I may ask, where are you located?
If you would like to sell notes on the forum, there are many ways to do it. but you must realize that there is a risk involved.
Canada post does not recommend sending cash through the mail. If you choose to do it, then send it via xpresspost so at least you have a tracking number.
Payment for your notes is your choice...many people accept cheques, email transfer or paypal.
Meeting people in person is your most secure way of proceeding with a transaction.
In my experience, I have had nothing but positive transactions with people on the forum.
If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to ask.

PS: I'm interested in the 3 consecutive notes... :)

damien: This forum is for inquiring as to the value of your notes. If you wish to sell the notes, you would have to accumulate at least 15 posts elsewhere before you can post to the Trading Post forum.
As the question to value has been answered, I'm going to lock this thread. Thanks.
