Title: 1954 $5 Solid serial # with all 9's
Post by: British Columbia on December 14, 2010, 07:30:54 pm
I have aquired a number of canadian paper money bills and coins from my mother. One of the paper money is a 1954 5 dollar bill with a U/C 9999999 serial number. The bill is crisp and has never been in circulation. I was hoping that someone could help me with the possible value of this note.

Thanks,
British Columbia

Looks like you got your Christmas present early!

In the catalogue it's valued at $1,200 and I think that's right maybe a little more.

A picture would be nice!

Thanks for your reply Gary_T,

I do have other 1954 $1 Dollar Bills (not solids), Beattie-Coyne replacement *A/A also not circulated as well as other bills. I will try to find time to post pictures of these other bills.
Thanks,
BC

It looks trimmed.  That might drop the value slightly.

Never been trimmed. My mom worked at a bank back then and it came through the bank from the mint. Could be the angle of the picture I took.

It doesn't have to be trimmed to look trimmed.  And that note looks trimmed.  The left and right margins are even but very short.  That might be the way the note was made, but I doubt it, and aesthetics play a big role in value.  But hey, it is what it is and that's still a very special note.

It looks original to me. It's too bad that the borders were not more even but yes a nice note.

Thanks,
