This is a coin question, hopefully someone on this forum has the answer...
Has there been any Magnetic 2010 Cents circulated? Also regarding the 2009 Cents. Both Magnetic and non-magnetic varieties were issued for circulation, but i noticed the after checking over 150 2009 cents only 1 was the non-magnetic variety... is this variety scarce?
I have checked other coin websites and have not found any answers as of yet. ???

The Charlton Catalogue notes 36.5 million non-magnetic 2009 pennies and 419 million magnetic 2009 pennies...so rare is kind of relative. ;D
I believe to date all circulation 2010 pennies are non-magnetic. I believe you can get a magnetic 2010 penny from the specimen set.
Hope this helps

Thanks for your reply 50monarch...
Okay so it looks like the 2010 Magnetic is only avaiable non-circulated.
For the 2009 non-magnetic its interesting that 36.5M was minted... did they really circulate all of them? Its not easy finding one!
Its like the 2007 non-Magnetic, it says 9,625,000 were minted but i doubt even a 1/4 of them were ever even circulated, finding one in change is next to impossible, at least for me as i never found one.

I looked at the coin shows for any of the 2006P non-magnetic, 2007 logo, non-magnetic and 2009 logo non-magnetic all with no response. No dealers had any. Looking at the new 2011 non circulating I see they are going back to steel again so watch in Jan, Feb. very closelly for the varietys. For now I'll look for notes. :)
