Title: New $10 prefixes for 2009
Post by: BWJM on January 05, 2011, 09:10:26 pm
Today I added a bunch of $10 notes to the SNDB including the first confirmed "printed in 2009" $10 notes with prefixes BFJ, BFN and BFV.

I found it odd that in such a small pile of circulated notes, I had so many new prefixes that nobody else has reported (or at least confirmed) so far.

Anyway, I'm working on getting the 2008/2009 changeover. It's expected to be in the high BFH or low BFJ range, possibly at the start of BFJ.

I'm not sure BFH was printed to completion, in which case the start of BFJ would logically be the place to have the changeover.

And we now have our answer:

- Last $10 note from BAI marked "PRINTED IN 2008" – BFH 6229999

- First $10 note from BAI marked "PRINTED IN 2009" – BFH 6230000

SNDB has been updated with this changeover.

Well it just goes to show that with these printers, expect the unexpected.  But if you actually do expect the unexpected, doesn't the unexpected become the expected?  Either way, I obviously didn't see the changeover happening before BFJ.  I mean, it's totally inconsistent with how BTV was a short prefix and then 2008 notes started with BTW.  Oh, but I forgot, that was a signature changeover too.  It would have been much more logical to cut BFH short since the mega-sequence pattern gets disrupted at the prefix changeover from BFH to BFJ.  Or are there more surprises lurking in issues to come?  ???

What surprises me is that the new prefixes are being found on circulated notes.

In the SNDB High/Low List of Jenkins/Carney $10 Notes (BAI), BFJ to BFZ is listed but missing is BFR.
Please add.

Thanks.
