Title: bank of western canada and the bank of toronto notes
Post by: shell on February 25, 2011, 03:01:47 pm
I am wondering if anyone knows the worth of my bank of western canada one dollar note,
as well as my bank of toronto note (the 3 cent stamp may be worth something as well)
anyone who can help me on this, I would greatly appreciate some insight.

The Bank of Toronto "note" is actually a cheque, and it's not very old and in poor condition.  It's worth $2 tops.  The Bank of Western Canada "note" is very obviously fake.  Value: priceless.

Thanks for the feedback - I really appreciate it, although my Father may not take
it as well as he's saved them both all these years thinking they were going to be
worth something substantial.
Live and learn
Thanks again

Oh my  :o

Well, let's hope these two "notes" were not part of his retirement investment income strategy.  If so, could you ask him if he will start saving to buy these notes from me...

Best sh*ts and giggles I've had all week! Thanks for the laugh! :-D
But since I'm currency illiterate, could you explain the top note for me ?
in my world it looks legit.

The green Niagra note is fake, or rather it's a reproduction with no intent to deceive.  It's printed on green Xerox paper.  I don't know its origin.  I've heard that in years past, reproductions of broken bank notes like this were given out at major numismatic conventions, though for what purpose is beyond me.  Since chartered bank notes as a whole have seen great increases in value over the past few years, novelty items like this are fooling more and more people into thinking they have something of value.
