Hmmm ...
-
Are they fake CBN?

They look a lot like these!!!

Edit: And ... if you can believe this ... Ebay now has an entire section entitled "Replicas and Reproductions for World Paper Money". As if calling them Replicas or Reproductions doesn't also mean they are "counterfeit".

Clearly, law enforcement does not consider this an issue (don't know if stating up front that they are replicas makes it okay), but as Gucci or Cartier would take issue if this was happening with their products, doesn't the BoC hold some sort of Copywrite on the design of Canadian notes? Hmm ...

Definitely reproductions. They have been offered on eBay since last fall by a seller out of Israel. Hard to believe that eBay condones these sales even if the notes are declared reproductions. I guess there is a market for these based on the number of completed sales this seller has made.

There have been shady sellers hawking copies/reproductions for at least a decade (or more). The only thing we can do is report them but often they're Power sellers or the platform doesn't care.
Here's a thread on the subject on a US based forum (Coin Community Forum):

And copies of the 1935 series still sold on etsy:

How is the production and sale of reporduction banknotes not considered to be counterfeiting?

I've wonder if it has to do with whether or not a note is in circulation or not? IMHO the BOC should be going after the websites to enforce Trademark/Copyright infringement for starters ...
