Good day, all!
Got yet another interesting question for all of ye regarding the release dates of all the Journey series notes:
The question of the hour... ;D
Why did the Bank of Canada choose Wednesdays as the official release days of the Journey series?
Feedback?
Jonathan, out! ;)

Problably because banks are closed on sundays ;)

You would think they'd be issued on a Monday, but Wednesday seems to make perfect sense, since it is in the "heart" of the banking week... :D
-
Could it be that banks in smaller towns are getting the shipments on Wednesday. ;)
You'd expect them to hit the main bank branches in major cities first before the smaller towns! ;D

It would make sense that major branches in big cities get shipments in the early part of the week, and smaller outlying branches get shipments towards the middle of the week. So, by making the release date a Wednesday, most branches should have the notes. The big ones would just have to hang onto them until the official release day.

Then how come we Newfoundlanders never got them in until later on?

Well, first off, you're in Newfoundland and Labrador... only the furthest place from everything except the ocean. Second, it was also some time until the vast majority of banks even local to me got new notes on all three occasions last year. I live in the Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge area of Ontario, about 1/2 way between Toronto and London, right off the 401. It is a fairly major centre, with a population of about half a million people, but it still took a bit to get the new notes out.

Makes sense to me. ::)
Canada rules! ;D
