Hello, all!
Just want to ask all of ye...
What is your most favourite BoC banknote in history - of all the Journeys, Birds, Multicoloured, 1954's, etc.? Any opinions? :)
J.S., out! ;)

I believe this topic has been covered before.
I like the multicoloured series, it reminds me of when i was a kid as they were the notes that was used ;)
:-/
Anyhow i think we need to come up with new topics to keep people interested.

Yes, I certainly believe it has.

There will always be new forumers joining at different times in this great forum. :D
It may be a topic that we have visited earlier but with fresh input of ideas and opinions, that's what makes a forum interesting.
I personally like the 1954 series especially the $5 since I have a solid 5555555. The 1954 series give me a feeling of the starting of modernization. QEII represents the start of the modern world. I too like the bird series but unfortunately I do not have any of them in my 5555555 collection. :)

My favourite has to be the 1954 Series for a similar reason to JB-20006's preference for the Multicoloured Series --- the 1954 Series was in circulation when I came to Canada from Britain in 1968.
It's very true that we tend to be sentimental towards the things that we remember from our teens and early twenties, in particular pop music and paper money .....

I created a poll on this topic about a year ago. I have re-opened the poll this morning so that interested members can vote on their favourite Bank of Canada series.
Here's the link to the poll:

I believe the original post by jonathan was not asking banal question of what series the members liked most but rather what specific banknote was our favorite. This takes alot of thought to come up with just a single answer.
I'll place a vote on the French 1935 $20 note.

Well, since this thread is under "Bank of Canada", I would have to say my favourite BofC note is the 1975 $50. I guess partly because the multicolour series was in circulation from my earliest memory until my early teens. But mostly I love this note for the RCMP image on the back and the vibrant red colour.
However when considering all Canadian banknotes, I would have to choose the 1912 $5 "Train" note. First for the nice train image on the front, and second because of the striking blue colour (unusual for that era). Plus, I believe this would be the only Canadian note that didn't have a portrait on it (e.g. of a Royal Family member or a Governor General).

The Bank of Canada Multicolor series is my favorite series with the one's and two's for me.
A close second would be the 1967 Centennial series where I have the complete set. Almost two sets too.
But THE bank note that gives me the most warm fuzzy feelings hands down is my 1973 1$ *IG 8408198 I graded it at Vf with pen writing '38' over the left front panel. This is THE note that started me into the hobby and the first note I found and gave to my Dad since he collected notes on and off. More off than on that is. His collection was passed on to me when he passed away and now I share it with my two boys.
sniff......

1937 $ 1000
I lika lotsa munny

The 1988 $1000. Very bright and out of circulation which makes it rarer! ;D

1. the 1935 english $25. I saw one in unc. WOW!! what a hot note!
2. the 1937 $20. Great design, and colour.
3. the 1935 english $2. The slanted 2's, the fact that it's blue, and a design that manages to be both elaborate and spare at the same time. Hope to own a nice one some day.
4. the 1969 $20. What's not to love, and memories of childhood.
5. the 1975 $50. Ibid.
-
I like all of our notes. I have a soft spot for the $50's though.
1. 1975 $50, just bought my first one a week or so ago
2. 1988 $50 like the owl
3. 1935 $20, very cool to see Princess Elizabeth, I've shown pictures of the note to my kids and they say "wow really", that's cool dad.
4. 1972 $5
5. Anything with 4 zeros on it is ok by me
:)

I always liked the 1954 reverses, :) especially the blue $5.
-
I like the Devil $5, just like Brent. :)
-
$2 Devil faced Note with 666 in the serial number, nuff said.
-
I like the 1935 $5 for its irregular orange color and the portrait of that Nazi symathizer who blew off a kingdom for some skinny yankey divorcee. Now there's historical romance for you!

Is this your favourite BOC note? If not- you may be in danger of violating the postng rules of this forum.
This post would be more appropriate in the "What it's worth" thread.

My favorite BOC note series is the multicolored ones. I love all the notes and thought that the designs were fantastic. I just wish they would have made a $1000 note in the series. I can imagine what it would have looked like, they would use the same portrait of the queen used on the $1, $2 and $20 notes, but it would have a nice deep pink hue. It would be i.e. series 1976 and on the back of the note would be an areal view of Niagara Falls/Horseshoe falls. Or another idea for the back of the note could be a scene from Stanley Park with the totem polls or maybe a view of Toronto from Lake Ontario, or an areal view of The Montreal Olympic stadium. And lastly, a skyline scene of old Quebec City.

1935 Banque du Canada $25 because its the only $25 note they've ever printed (plus pricey and rare).
1935 Bank of Canada $500 because its the only $500 note they've ever printed (plus pricey and extremely rare).
Hey, its free to dream... ::)

I like the $50 banknote with the RCMP musical riders on the reverse.
I have always been attracked to them.
