I checked Charlton Catalogue for this Canadian bill - Centennial 1867-1967 one dollar with GOLD FLAG but could not find it. Has anyone ever seen this one dollar bill with a gold flag on it? Thanks! Byron

The flag was put on with a rubber stamp, using the gold glittery ink pads. The ones where the impression was poor he is trying to sell as an error.

Also watch out for $2 bills with a polar bear stamp on them commemorating the 10th anniversary of the toonie. This is done in a similar manner and is a shoddy attempt to fool people into buying them and thinking they're something special.
You might as well stamp it with a Where's Willy message and send it off on its way.

If the story sounds too good to be true, chances are......... :P

This home made "error" has a bid of $52.75 U.S.
What a shame!

I saw that too it made me sick to my stomach.

I guess the next one will the American Flag gold stamp "ULTRA RARE" error "a collectors must!!!"

I was just sitting here thinking about all the (would have been but are now or someday will be weary) future collectors of paper money who are being unsuspectingly ripped off thinking they are buying a rare note. By the way, last I checked wasnt it illegal to deface government paper money?

That very question was the topic of this thread a few months ago:

Another one of these GOLD FLAG notes just sold for $41.00 U.S.
I hope we don't lose novice collectors when they find out they have been ripped off!
But I have to go to the dollar store now and get me some of them gold glittery ink pads. ;)

Im really tempted to buy one of those so I can bash the guy in his feedback column.
