Title: Banque du Canada $25 issue
Post by: JB-2007 on August 20, 2006, 10:11:40 pm
Not sure if this question has been asked before...

I read somewhere in charlton that only about 1,840 $25 notes survived being destroyed back in 1936. So today there are approx. 1,840 $25 notes that remain outstanding. Does anyone know how many of those 1,840 are of the french "banque du Canada" variety?

That information is not tracked (or at least part of the available information from the Bank of Canada).

An approximate figure maybe 1/7th of the 1840.
As the number printed was 140K Eng 20K in French also 1/7th

1840/7=262

No one knows for sure but I imagine it's 200-300

The register (which is at a relatively early stage yet) shows 37 of them, of which
- only 2 are UNC
- 9 are numbered 000010 or lower!

i guess it would be a safe guess then to say only about 250 French issues remain.
