Title: 1979 Five...

Somebody paid for their coffee at work the other day with one of these..  My boss doesn't let us accept them because "we can't tell if they're real".  I took it anyways because I wanted the note, and I can tell if they're real or not. 

The note is in rather terrible condition.  Should I just spend it?

I would spend it. But if you dont have that note yet. It would be nice to have. Then again you can get a good looking one for $10-$20. Book is $55 for UNC.

I'm not really much of a collector.. I just watch for notes I think might have some value when I'm serving the thousands of cups of coffee I do everyday.  I do have a bit of a fascination though, so perhaps one day I will start collecting.  Who knows!
