Title: recieved a $10 note from a friend what is it worth?

$10 note   it says ottawa 1989

serial #bdz0381211

it has an eagle on one side
is it worth more than face value?

If it's AU or above, yes. Otherwise it's face value. Also, it's an Osprey, not Eagle. (I will have to check my spelling...)
