Title: 1909 $10 Bank of Hamilton with "S" Overprint
Post by: canada-banknotes on October 26, 2007, 09:17:32 am

I recently acquired a 1909 $10 Bank of Hamilton note with "S" Overprint.  The note would grade VG+ possibly Fine.
I am trying to determine the true scarcity of this note and market value.  The catalogue states that this particular
note could be "challenging" to find and lists the highest grade as VF.

Any input would be appreciated.  Thanks.

The difficulty in obtaining 1909 $10s with or without a letter overprint has been noticed by collectors for about a generation now.  I had not been able to locate one for my collection until a low grade example turned up in an auction in England in 1988, but I have since been able to upgrade it.
The corresponding $5s are much more plentiful, by approximately a 2:1 ratio.
