Title: nickel dollars
Post by: polarbear on April 06, 2008, 04:25:09 pm
I was looking at nickel dollars/silver  lately and noticed the huge amount of effort that was placed in the producing of these coins.   I realize that this is not really a coin forum but was curious.  Hopefully this thread will not be deleted.

Question

1 what is your favourite nickel dollar or silver dollar.  Is it the voyageur, jacque cartier etc etc.

My contribution

Mine is the Winnipeg

Just idle conversation

I prefer the look of the 1980 Artic Territories Centennial Dollar issued in 1980.

It's odd that I just happened upon 20 nickel dollars last month when I returned a brick of tens I got that week. The Teller's there know I'm a collector and offered them to me complete brilliant UNC in their holders for face value.  Wasn't exactly what I was looking for but I said, "What da hoot I'll take 'em." I like the Voyager myself being a teeny bit of a traditionalist, in particular the 1977. For Silver it would be the 1935 dollar.

The 1949 "Newfoundland into Confederation" is a particularly nice one.
