My 83 year old Father recently passed away. While organizing his things I found this $1 Canadian note.
The Serial Number is AY7675039 (Birthday note?). The reverse side reads Banque Du Canada - Bank of Canada with a picture of a boat among logs.
The signatures are R.W. Lawson & G. Bauey (spi). The note reads: This note is legal tender CD Billet & Cours Legal.
Is anyone familiar with this dollar? Please advise & special thanks.

It is a 1973 Lawson Bouey One dollar note
If it was in perfect uncirculated condition it would worth a grand total of 3 dollars.
Not even enough for a starbucks coffee >:(
As for a birthday note it would be many of thousands of years in the future..it might be worth alot more at that time 8)

This note is quite common and not worth much above face value.
It would not be a birthday note, a birthday note has a day, month and year in the serial number like 1311962(January 31st 1962)
I'm sorry to hear of your fathers passing and maybe this note would be a nice keepsake if not for you maybe a grand child.

Thank you so much for responding, and for your terrific idea. I'll print your response, wrap the bill inside, and pass on to one of my Sons! :)
Special thanks.
