Am I missing something here???
VG = $1,100
F = $2,200
eBay Item # 350162831692 (http://cgi.ebay.com/RARE-1870-DOMINION-OF-CANADA-1-PAYABLE-AT-TORONTO_W0QQitemZ350162831692QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPaper_Money?hash=item350162831692&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50)
I could not even buy the item because the seller (selling Canadian note) does not accept bids from Canadians.
However, I'd like you input on what this is worth. In terms of grading that is... am I looking at the right note? The seller even says that "Fine" is listed at $1000... F is actually $2,200 in the book if I'm not mistaken!

While it certainly is possible that Canadian bidders were deliberately excluded, it is more likely that this was done accidentally without the seller's knowledge or understanding.
The lower price is almost surely a direct consequence.

1. How could he think "Fine" is worth $1000 ?
2. What is the grade on this note? IMO a VG+/F-
-
1. Older edition catalogue
2. IMO fine

It pains me to see a $2,200 lottery go to someone like that just because the seller doesn't know how to use eBay properly.
-
It pains me to see people deposit chartered notes, dominion notes, 1935/1937 notes. It's unfortunate, but it happens.
-
People still do that???
The best note I have ever seen that was deposited was a Devil's Face Coyne-Towers $50 note in AU. That was almost 15 years ago and I took it for $50 without knowing its value.
I sold it on eBay for $350 US in 2004, I was so happy. Look how much it's worth now!
