The pink and the clear onn the note are actually see through windows, with some security patterns in them.

I picked up some of these from circulation when I visited Romania in 2001.
Try bending the bill over, and viewing the wavy sun pattern though the pink window on the right. It's a cool effect.

Not sure what you're referring to, Seth... Sure, the slightly greener shade of yellow becomes more obviously different, but that's just a simple effect of the pink filter.

the pink window is not a filter, only a color window.
in the little withe window is a rombe, use a red laserpointer, you see a little solar eclipse, Seeking the red crescent :D

That looks like a cool feature, but I'll be darned if I can make it appear on my note.
I have a 2000 lei note as pictured and I have tried both a red laser pointer, a flashlight, and regular room lighting and have not been able to see even a hint of what is pictured above. I do however see a change in the clear window that is diamond-shaped. This is likely the device that causes the diffractive optical feature, but I can't seem to get it to work right.
The note I have is as genuine as I have ever seen. You would have a very, very difficult time convincing me otherwise.

consider the seemingly on a white wall, shoot the laser through the white window and you see the solar eclipse.
other notes are for example vietnam, china, brunei - to my mind now definitely
