Title: Is offset printing considered an error?
Post by: RADARjourney on May 15, 2010, 04:22:20 pm
Hi Guys,

I have been grading some coins for a buddy and like most coin collectors his only notes are a few Centennial. Pretty standard. BUT one of his notes is not centered on the paper. It is serial number H/P 9840487 10/11 I have more pictures if anyone wants to see them. Any input would be handy. I'm not sure if he will sell it or not but a value would be handy in discussions with him.

Cheers Shawn

These types of offset printing errors are minor and are fairly common on these types of notes from the 50's through the 70's.

From what I see, it's not a printing error, it's simply a note that is cut out of register, and without even a sliver of an adjacent note's design showing along the border, it's not even considered an error.  In other words, it's just poor centering without being exceptional enough to command a premium.

I agree with mmars. Definitely not "offset printing". Perhaps poorly centered, or even trimmed on the bottom edge. Either way, barely worth face value, especially in that condition.
