Greetings.
My RS0000001 $2 test note is now on ebay.
I'd like to thank elwoodbluesca, canada-banknotes, ywoinvallarta, jb2007 and mmars for their advice earlier this year. I decided to have a dealer to do the listing for me (Sean Isaacs of Alliance coins in Almonte, ON). He came highly recommended by a number of collectors.
Wish me luck, it's the only object of value(hopefully) that I've ever owned.
Anybody care to make a guess on how much it might sell for?

I suggested to Mr. Isaacs about a month ago that this is an "iconic" note with a potential value of $10,000 (or even more) because it has "everything" going for it ..... it's a rare RS Test Note, it's the lowest serial number possible (except for a 0000000 Specimen note I suppose), and it's in great condition. However, we'll just have to wait and see!

My guess is that the note will sell for $2,800-$3,200.

I did offer the owner of this note to buy it from him for $7000 about 5 or 6 month ago
And he didn't want to sell . Now i cant pay more than $3000 for it , i did buy a lot of notes instead ;)
I do buy from Sean Isaacs of Alliance coins he is very nice guy and some times he have a very good
Deals . As for Ebay it may sell close to $4k-$5k . (without games and inflating the price ::) )

I guess he should have took your offer back then. He would have been ahead unless he didn't have to pay commission on the sale of his note. :)
I still think everyone believes that they will get more from selling a note through other means than privately....still some of the best deals are made this way...
no commission....no taxes...no ebay fees...etc....
I bet when all is said and done he lost a grand on this transaction :'(

I think he did the right thing. Private deals are a good way to get hoodwinked if you're not an experienced seller.

If I had listed it myself, people would have seen that it was my first and only listing........would you send $7,000 to me under those circumstances?
Anyhow, I got a great thrill watching the auction.

I hope you realize that sending in a note for TPG is not a hard task and the cost is under $20. As for listing the note on ebay, again another 10 minutes to download a picture and write a blurb. As for notifying contacts, would be interesting to know who bought the note?
BTW we all started ebay with no sales behind us....if your going to start...why not start with a bang...
Bottom line is that your happy with your proceeds....it would be a very nice note to own :)

Hi fried, you're right, some very valid points. However, after the 5555555 note, I have nothing left to sell. So, the thought of setting up an account for just those two items was to much for my tired old brain to handle.
Perhaps your advice will encourage someone else to "take the leap".
