Title: Test notes
Post by: timkelowna on January 05, 2012, 09:08:51 pm
The Charlton catalog makes references to "RS" serial numbers being test notes.

Are there any Journey series notes that are test notes ?
If so do they have serial numbers where the last two letters are "RS"

The discussion of RS test notes only applies to the multi-coloured series of $2 bills (1974) and the $5 bills (1972).    Prior to those in the 1954 series the recognized test notes are $2 bills with prefix E/R (between 3744001 and 3872000); prefix G/R (in three ranges between 0000001 and 0079999; between 5280000 and 5367999; and between 5400000 and 5479999) and prefix S/R of which there are three signature varieties.  Finally there are other test notes in the 1923 series of $1 bills and these are outlined in the catalogue.

Also the 3300 series in the 1979 $5 notes are test notes and the AXA series and EXA series of $1 notes from 1973 are test notes.
