So, what is it about 1973 $1 asterisk notes with prefix *AA that has some people excited? They sell for well above the catalogue value and I just don't get it. A couple of weeks ago, one went for over $14 and it was in well circulated condition. Currently, there's one on that auction site and it's over $20, in circulated condition. Am I missing something?? Are people mistaking these for rare *AA notes with serial numbers that end in 000 and 999?

I think they're reading the wrong line in the catalogue and thinking they're getting the deal of a lifetime...
