Hello, I know this is not a spectacular error, but I was wondering if anyone had info about this. I found this the other day. It seems like the thread has shrunk due to heat. As you can see the bottom part is thinner as if it were streched.

Is this worth keeping ?

Might not be worth much of a premium over face, but definitely something neat and worth keeping. If you do decide to put this back into circulation, I or anyone else on this forum would surely like to get this from you.

That is a bona fide error, so don't spend it. The grade of the note is going to hurt the value, but it should still get you something if you sell it. I had a very similar error on a $5 note. It came from a sequence of new notes. All the notes had regular threads except this one which had a very thin thread with the lettering on it distorted to appear stretched. That's what I think happened to the thread before it was embedded in the note. Your note's thread is partially stretched, so it's even neater than the note I had. I sold mine with the two shoulder notes for something like $75. Of course, my notes were uncirculated. Click on the thumbnail below to enlarge.

Here's another $10 bill with a very similar error...

This time, the thread tapers upward, in contrast to Baanos' note which has the stretched part toward the bottom end. According to the serial number and position numbers of the note I've shown here (BFJ 7201521 58/78), it comes from the top of the sheet, so I would not expect the notes printed below in the same column to exhibit any thread errors.
The note belonging to Baanos comes from the middle of the sheet, and that would mean there could be some $10 notes with even more dramatic stretch errors out there.
This would seem to be a new kind of error deserving a place in the catalogue.
