Title: 2005 Veteran "Moles"

I've had this coin for about 6-7 years and I was wondering if this coin is an error or not.  I haven't been able to find another.  It looks like the older veteran has 2 "moles" between the eye and the ear.  What would cause this?  I have attached both the "mole" coin and a regular coin.  Has anyone else encountered the "moles"??

I have seen this on some of the 2000 millenium issued quarters but not sure why it occurs
