Title: Bundle strap from US notes indicating use of replacement notes

I found this bundle strap (if I using the wrong term let me know) on the floor of a bank branch. I found it interesting because it clearly states the use of "substituted" notes and the use of "star" to denote them.

Maybe this is already up somewhere in the forums. But I was not able to find it. Thought it may be interesting for a lot of new members like me.

Did Canada also use bundle straps like these? Does anyone know the purpose of this type of labelling?

Hi Shylo,

The BoC uses primarily plain paper labels with their logo on it, in black and white

or sometimes you might get a band with the printer's details on it. (I have seen one from CBN)

Maybe the reason for the description is to alert users of paper money about the "star" notes.  I think people in the USA use cash a lot more than we do here in Canada.

Glad to see others are getting their hands on these. All US straps have this, however from what I know... if the bundle actually has stars in it, it will have different looking broken borders [Rather than solid ones](See the pics)

should these posts on US notes be moved to the US Thread?
