Title: Spectacular cutting error
Post by: copperpete on January 12, 2005, 10:35:43 pm
This note was found by somebody in an ATM.  This person showed it to a dealer (which I know very well) and he let me taking this photo.

It's the most dramatic cutting error I saw and I even never saw anything close to that.  I'm wondering if it is still a 20$ note? :)

Here the photo of the face. :o :o :o
Judge by your-self.

I reduced the size of the images to fit on the screen better and brightened the images. Hope you don't mind. - PBW

Wow!  Have you considered taking some better-quality scans and submitting them to the Online Canadian Paper Money Museum? ;D  Something like that is mind-blowing and would really capture the interest of visitors to the site.

This is really interresting because it shows 2 serial numbers (part of a sheet) so I use Brent  tools (http://www.bwjm.ca/tools_drawsheet.asp) to see what part of the sheet it came from. Well it seems that CBN are printing 40/on, 5x8, 500 skip like the BABN because when I enter the number in the CBN (40/on, 4x10, 500 skip) option the numbering isn't right. Something to think about...  ;)

They are printed 45/on.

Given the prefix (EYB), I would expect that Bob is correct in that the notes are printed 45/on.  But, I don't really know enough yet about the layouts (the CPMS newsletter articles are a little confusing) to include them in my tools.

I'm glad someone has found them and is using them.  That makes my day. :D

Oops!  It's the new Journey $20's that are printed in sheets of 45, not these late Birds $20's.  An article to be published in the next CPMS Newsletter explains that this particular group of notes was printed in sheets of 40 but with a non-standard layout, which will also be forthcoming.  And, yes, it's 5x8 like the BABN sheets.

This note has been sold to a collector (that I know) and about sending a scan of this note, I must first ask him to borrow it and I want to have his permission to put in the virtual museum (maybe he would wish to do to it himself).  I keep you on about this.

It's done!  I had the permission from my friend and took a much better photo of the note.

I submitted it to Brent's site. You can now see it in the Online Museum and enjoy! :)
